Trust is the Foundation: Celebrating Families in Business Day!
June 4, 2025
“One experience that really stands out happened early on at Vaquero Plumbing,” said owner Stephanie George. “A long-time Liberty Hill resident called us in a panic. She had a major leak in her home, and her husband was out of town. She was overwhelmed, unsure of what to do, and worried about the damage. Because we had worked with her before and built a good relationship, she trusted us enough to hand us the keys to her home and asked us to take care of everything while she went to work.”
The Vaquero crew treated that home as if it were their own, protecting the floors, even calming the resident’s nerves with updates throughout the day. “By the time she returned, everything was handled, and the damage was under control. She got emotional and told us, ‘I didn’t feel alone in this, I knew I could count on you,’” said George.
It was a pivotal moment. “It reminded me why we do what we do. Plumbing might be the service, but trust is the foundation. When people let you into their homes, they’re not just hiring a company, they’re putting faith in you to respect their space, their time, and their peace of mind. That’s something we take seriously every single day,” said George.
Vaquero Plumbing is just one of the many small businesses Liberty Hill Economic Development Corporation (LHEDC) would like to recognize in honor of National Families in Business Day on June 23rd. The value all of our businesses bring to the community goes far deeper than just a product or service for the community to take advantage of.
Fabric of the Community
“We’re part of the fabric that makes Liberty Hill unique. We live here, raise our families here, and care deeply about the well-being of our neighbors,” said George, winner of the 2025 Women of Wilco Award. “When you support a local business, you’re not just making a transaction; you’re investing in the community. Every dollar spent at an independently owned business in Liberty Hill helps keep money circulating in our local economy, supporting jobs, sponsoring local events, and contributing to the character and charm that make this town special. We take pride in offering personal, hands-on service and being a familiar face you can trust.”
That ethos is one of the many reasons Vaquero Plumbing was voted the Best Plumbing Company in Liberty Hill and also has over 122 five-star ratings on Google.
A Great Place to Grow Something Meaningful

If you’re about to start a new business in Liberty Hill but don’t know where to begin, George has some advice.
“Start small, but start smart. Don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ moment. Begin by writing down your idea, your goals, and what problem your business will solve in the community. From there, you can begin to map out what you’ll need, whether it’s a business license, location, product, or simply connections,” she said.
She also encourages business owners to tap into the strong sense of community that Liberty Hill offers. How? By geting involved, making connections, and taking advantage of the available business resources.
“Visit other local businesses, talk to their owners, attend community events, and join the Chamber of Commerce. You’ll be surprised how supportive and welcoming people are when they see you genuinely want to contribute to the area,” she said. “I love how reachable the LHEDC is, anytime we have an issue. This is the most welcoming community we have ever been a part of, and we fully understand that our success is a direct result of that.”
The success of Vaquero Plumbing is also a result of being prepared for the ups and downs of business ownership… As well as something even more important for entrepreneurs to think about.
“Stay true to your ‘why,’” she said. “Passion, patience, and persistence are key. Starting a business is a journey, but Liberty Hill is a great place to grow something meaningful.”
